We Make a Commitment to Serving Families as they Deserve.

Since our founding by three School Sisters of Notre Dame, Wellston has been committed to providing one week's worth of food for each person in your family, every month. Today, we continue that tradition by offering a range of nutritious options, including fresh, locally sourced produce, frozen and cured meats, milk, eggs, cheeses, grains, snacks, canned foods, and essential hygiene items like laundry detergent.

In our community, over 10,000 homes face the harsh reality of food insecurity. Research shows that even brief periods of hunger can have lasting effects, particularly on children. So, what does food insecurity look like? It's the heart-wrenching decision of choosing between paying the rent or putting a hot meal on the table for your kids.

No family should ever have to make that choice. Yet, we hear from many of those we serve that they often go without meals to ensure their children have enough to eat.

You can help us ease this burden. Together, we can make a difference and provide families with the support they need to thrive.

We Provide a Community Hub, Where All Families are Welcome

Honoring the dignity of the families we serve is at the heart of everything we do. At the Wellston Center, we are more than just a food pantry—we are a community of support, resilience, and care.

Our Thrift Store has been a cornerstone of the Wellston community since our founding, providing affordable, high-quality essentials to those in need. We are sustained by the generosity of those who donate and shop with us, ensuring that we can continue our mission. No group has supported us longer or more meaningfully than the families we serve themselves, and we are deeply grateful for the trust they place in us.

Beyond food assistance and our Thrift Store, we offer programs that strengthen and empower our community. We host trainings, neighborhood meetings like the Grandmother’s Club, and Town Halls. We provide direct health care services through dedicated nurses and offer pro bono legal assistance to advocate for our families. Each year, we also bring our most dedicated families together to celebrate Christmas in a special way.

We know that asking for help isn’t easy, and we are committed to ensuring every family feels welcome, valued, and supported. The trust and connections we have built with our community mean everything to us, and we are honored to walk alongside families as they navigate both challenges and triumphs.
